(Philadelphia, PA) — WURD Radio (96.1FM / 900AM / WURDRadio.com / WURD App / WURD TV), the only Black owned and operated talk radio station in Pennsylvania and one of a few in the nation, in partnership with the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists (PABJ), will be broadcasting the first major Democratic Party primary forum for the 2019 Philadelphia Mayor’s race
TODAY Monday, April 22, 2019 from 7-8pm.
WURD is the only Philadelphia media outlet to LIVE broadcast this event, which will be open to the public and held in the Bonnell Auditorium on the campus of the Community College of Philadelphia. The Bonnell Auditorium is located at 556 N. 17th Street in Philadelphia.
Residents and concerned community advocates interested in attending are encouraged to register at the PABJ’s EventBrite page here. The event will open doors at 6pm.
The debate’s theme is “Moving Philadelphia Forward Democratic Mayoral Primary Forum.” It is, to date, the first major Mayoral candidates debate of its kind. The three top Democratic candidates for Mayor have accepted invitations and will be meeting each other on a debate forum stage for the first time during the 2019 citywide election cycle. Those candidates are: incumbent Mayor James Kenney and challengers State Sen. Anthony “Tony” Williams and former City Controller Alan Butkovitz.
A panel of African American journalists will ask the candidates questions, including WURD News Editor Vincent Thompson, also Host and Executive Producer of City Council Live.
In addition to broadcasting live on WURD radio, WURD will live stream the event online at WURD TV (accessed via wurdradio.com Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) and will provide social media engagement at #WURDonPolitics.
