(RSVP) Race & Identity in the Media
WITF public media presents & WURD's Ellison hosts another installment in the acclaimed "Toward Racial Justice" series
a WITF feature
About …
WITF's series of virtual community conversations hosted by Charles Ellison addressing systemic racism and injustice in Central Pennsylvania and beyond continues Thursday, October 8 at 7pm ET at youtube.com/witforg.
Join us as we examine race and identity in the media. During this conversation, we'll discuss the role that news organizations play in covering people of color and the direct impact it can have on stereotypes, cultural perceptions and society as a whole. We’ll also examine the power of the media and who makes the decisions for what to cover, publish and broadcast.

Panelists include:
Sandra Clark — Vice President for News & Civic Dialogue at WHYY in Philadelphia
David Stamps — Assistant Professor in Strategic Communication & Mass Media, Louisiana State University. Stamp's research focuses on representations of marginalized groups in mass media and the impact of mass media imagery on audiences.
And more!

Share your personal experiences or ask questions that we can address during this conversation. Email us at discuss@witf.org or share your story using #RacialJusticePA.
Our goal is to to elevate underrepresented voices with special emphasis on giving young people a platform to discuss their views. Race and racism are uncomfortable topics. Our objective is to help serve as a catalyst for change by bringing people together to discuss possible solutions and inspire collective action.
We look forward to having you join this virtual conversation on Thursday, October 8 at 7pm on WITF's YouTube Channel
