How To Be An "Ally" (... or Much More)
Another WITF "Toward Racial Justice" conversation examines what it means to be an ally and why it's so important to work together in the fight against racism
a WITF feature
WURD’s Charles Ellison moderates a panel examining what it means to be an ally and why it is so important for all of us to work together in the fight against racism. Because an ally might have more privilege and recognizes said privilege, they are powerful voices alongside oppressed ones. We’ll discuss what modern forms of racism look like, and why education and awareness are critical to changing the narrative.
During this conversation, we’ll learn new ways to listen, respect and provide all people with support and courage as we all work to end oppression and make our society a more equal place.
Panelists include:
Aurora Archer & Kelly Croce Sorg — Creators of The Opt-In Community and Hosts of The Opt-In Podcast
Amanda Kemp, Ph.D. — Founder and Mentor, Racial Justice from the Heart
Tsedale M. Melaku, Ph.D. — Sociologist, Critical Race and Gender Scholar. She recently co-authored an article titled “Be a Better Ally” for the Harvard Business Review.
