Deep Conversations: A Talk With Rev. Dr. Jon Robinson On The Impacts of Ecological Apartheid, Climate Racism ... & Sports Stadiums
Deep Conversations host Ryan Stewart had the opportunity to sit & talk with Reverend Dr. Jon Robinson about the critical need for greater environmental awareness. Here, he breaks down the social injustice of living in urban neighborhoods and how the practice of redlining was historically structured to keep inner-city Black communities trapped in unlivable conditions, much of what we still see in existence today when heat waves and floods hit. “In Black neighborhoods where they have made no investment in trees, parks and green spaces, the peak temperature during the summer is anywhere from 8-10 degrees hotter than it is in wealthier White neighborhoods with trees and parks,” says Robinson.
