Decision Makers: A Discussion With MD Delegate Regina Boyce
Decision Makers had a conversation with Maryland state Delegate Regina Boyce, who oversees the state's 43-A legislative District. She joins us as part of our continuing Decision Makers: State Legislator Communities of Color Series in partnership with the Council of State Governments East Region. As uncertainty and anxiety takes over with a new administration in Washington, what issues do constituents want tackled the most? What are the top issues? What are major bills she’s working on and co-sponsoring? How would she prioritize climate, pollution and environmental issues in a city like Baltimore, especially in an equity context? Heat equity, especially lethal urban heat island impacts, are of major concern and how are you addressing that? Environmental issues are a major topic in Maryland, and they intersect with or aggravate other major issues. Is there a path toward a comprehensive bill for climate resilient infrastructure interventions? But, of course, doing so in a way that adds no major costs to a state budget that's tightening further.
