If there’s one thing Democrats, as a collective, will need to do tonight it’s reclaiming a larger slice of the news cycle. Endless talk of impeachment, Ukraine scandals, the rants of a president’s “personal lawyer,” and now chaos unraveling in real time in Syria have put media focus almost completely on Trump. Good or bad, this news cycle is still a powerful marketing tool for everything Trump. Democratic presidential candidates need a conversation that stands out and can mobilize and/or inspire their base voters beyond just Trump.
