"Global Protest: The Movement That Shakes The World in the Wake of George Floyd." In a dynamic keynote plenary session, Political scientists Christina Greer and Khalilah Brown-Dean will explore a global Black Lives Matter movement erupting across three continents following the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer, and the social, economic, public health and political context around it. They will discuss their books 'Black Ethnics' by Greer and 'Identity Politics in America,' by Brown-Dean. Both will explore the causes and effect of anti-Black policing and how needed reforms are challenged by the current political climate.
Also offering an examination of racism in government policies is Richard Rothstein, author of 'Color of Law.' Veteran strategist Charles Ellison, Host of WURD's Reality Check and Senior Fellow with CSG East will moderate.
